[...] On this website it talks about how social media is a great opportunity for public relations practitioners. It goes on to say that social media requires the skills that a public relations practitioner would have. These traits are clear writing and speaking skills, listening, and awareness of the needs of a community. The website also says that using social media is a great way to broaden your scope of practice. [...]

Really good post!

Speaking as a journalist and a writer who has been using social media for years to further what I do, I'm pleased with the way its going. I find that my blog (which I have had for years as well) has helped me reach new people and given them an insight into what life can be like for a writer living in Toronto.

Excellent insights Joe. Social media is an enormous opportunity for PR professionals as you have rightly pointed out. Not only is it in our interests to explore social media, I suggest it is our obligation.

Great post, Joe.
I particularly like this line: "(social media) resides with those people who have the imagination and intelligence to explore and understand social media’s potential."

Cheers,
