Yep, I occasionally go back, hoping that it will magically improve — since there’s still a glaring need for what it promises, but doesn’t deliver.

Joe, I’ll second the statement that “…I have come to doubt the completeness of Technorati’s search results.”
I’m a wordpress user and I find the measurement tools it provides to be far more useful than Technorati’s. Still, I haven’t abandoned it entirely. I’m attracted by gizmo’s and gadgets and they have a pretty extensive technology blog listing.

Thoughtful discussion that echos my own feelings about Technorati – thanks, Joe, for posting it!

One thing – I actually just tried Ice Rocket (based on a recommendation from Leona Hobbes last Dec) and I’m finding that it picks up more references than Google blog search. I’m seeing links to a number of sites I’m monitoring that I’ve never seen before. So having a “backup” or “second dip” is definitely a good thing; I actually have five searches that I regularly set up for monitoring: Google, BlogPulse, Technorati, Bloglines and now Ice Rocket.
