Let’s talk about public participation and engagement

January 31, 2017 • Joseph Thornley • 3TYOW, IAP2, public engagement

Third Tuesday #3tYOW is returning to Ottawa. We’ve been inactive for a while, but are now reactivating the group with a focus on public participation, open government and open dialogue.

Third Tuesday logoThe first of the new series of events has just been announced. It will be a panel session featuring

  • Don Lenihan, an internationally recognized expert on public engagement who recently completed a year-long assignment as Ontario’s principal advisor on the Open Dialogue project, which used four demonstration projects to test and develop a public engagement framework for the Government of Ontario;
  • Kent Aitken, the 2016-2017 Prime Ministers of Canada Fellow at the Public Policy Forum; and
  • Bruce Gilbert, the President of the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Canada and former Assistant Deputy Minister of the Office of Public Engagement (2013-16).

Don, Kent and Bruce will discuss what lies ahead for open government and open dialogue. What are the biggest challenges that we must deal with? What are the opportunities for forward movement?

This event is being produced in partnership with the International Association for Public Participation St-Laurent chapter. We have reserved a limited block of tickets for Third Tuesday members. So, if you’re interested in attending, I’d encourage you to grab a ticket while they’re available.

See complete event info and reserve your ticket.
